Can you steer that thing? Yes!

Has anyone ever proposed in your balloon? Yes!

Can you fly in the winter? Yep. Just dress warm!

Does someone follow the balloon? Yes. Our crew helps inflate the balloon and works to arrive at our landing option as we approach for our landing.

How do you communicate with the ground crew?Two-way radios.

How long do flights last? About an hour; we could be aloft as few as forty five minutes or for ninety minutes!

Where do you launch from? Generally just a few miles from the center of town. Sometimes we travel out to Candler or Leicester.

How high up do you go? Typically we reach altitudes of 500 to 2000 feet above the ground.  We may go higher on mornings when the winds aloft are light.  Our altitude will depend entirely on wind direction and speed.

How far do you go? Five to ten miles.

I bet it’s really cold up there. Is it? It’s a couple of degrees cooler in temperature for every thousand feet we ascend.

When’s the best time of day to launch a balloon? Sunrise. The winds are calmest just after sunrise.

Do you have to be licensed to pilot hot air balloons? Yes.
